Learn about the active substances contained in N°1 Libido HIM:
L-arginine is an endogenous amino acid used in many physiological processes of human metabolism. It is treated as a conditionally essential amino acid, which means the necessity of providing appropriate levels of it in the body. As a consequence of the natural ageing process, the internal production of arginine falls over time. It has to do with a decline in libido and in other of the advantages of nitrogen oxide (NO). For this reason, it is necessary to take arginine in supplements or nutrients. Its main function is to produce nitrogen oxide (NO) having a beneficial impact on the vascular media. By decreasing the vascular tone, it significantly improves blood flow in the body, and the degree of oxidation of tissues in consequence. A lot of research shows that l-arginine can have an aphrodisiac effect as, as a consequence of better blood supply to sexual organs, an increased sensitivity to tactile stimuli in their region has been recorded. It facilitates and causes an erection too. Furthermore, l-arginine has strong anti-oxidative properties by stimulating the enzyme SOD (superoxide dismutase) which, in turn, will additionally translate (apart from the aforementioned improved blood supply) into better-quality semen in men. We can say that arginine is a natural equivalent of ‘blue pills’ for men and women as it works schematically on a similar principle – it blocks the enzyme PDE5 responsible for decay of nitrogen oxide.
Muira Puama, or Ptychopetalum, is a tropical plant native to Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. It is there where the history of a medical use of Muira puama has its beginnings, where the people of these countries have for ages been taking advantage of the therapeutic properties of this natural supplement. The people living in South America often name it ‘potency wood’, which indicates the properties this exotic plant of the Amazon River basin carries if used regularly. All of this is down to the substances contained in Muira Puama having an extremely beneficial impact on sexual potency, eliminating any emerging abnormality and improving the function of sexual organs. Today the ‘potency wood’ is gladly used by the people of Western Europe as a safe method for treating erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a Peruvian plant with enormous therapeutic potential. It is regarded both as an aphrodisiac, and as an adaptogen. It is even numbered among ‘superfoods’. It owes it to a variety of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other bioactive compounds, such as saponins, phytosterols, catechins, alkaloids, hidden in its root. It has always been in use in traditional herbal medicine, and is a standard component of an everyday diet in some regions. One of the basic uses of maca root extracts is to treat sexual frigidity and hypoactive sexual desire. Importantly, the plant works equally well with men and women. It has a beneficial impact on the level of libido and increases sexual potency. Furthermore, it shows the ability to improve blood supply to sexual organs, thereby stimulating sensations, promoting satisfaction during intercourse and facilitating orgasm.
Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng) is a plant which has been in use for ages in the Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), with the aim of improving the mood, increasing libido and widely understood vital forces and of maintaining the body in good health. Current knowledge and research seem to confirm the properties of the Korean ginseng attributed by the TCM. The root of the Korean ginseng contains a whole variety of active and nutritious compounds, including but not limited to vitamins (A, B1, B2 and C), micronutrients (calcium, copper, phosphorus, zinc), and also polysaccharides. The primary energising, immunomodulatory or pro-cognitive effect is, however, attributed to ginsenosides. It is worth adding that their content in extracts is certainly higher that in the plant itself which, indirectly, is a consequence of laboratory standardisation. Cardiovascular diseases afflicting men very often manifest themselves through problems with sexuality. First of all they are erection-related, and erectile dysfunction is caused by a reduced vascular diameter and impaired blood supply to the penis. Furthermore, erectile dysfunction can be psychogenic in nature too. A further problem which a larger and larger number of men at a younger and younger age is struggling with is reduced fertility. For both of the age groups, a rescue can be the inclusion of the ginseng root into supplementation. The substances contained in it help get an erection, and also noticeably improve the survival rate and motility of sperm cells, which has an impact on improved fertility.
Saw palmetto is a type of a small palm with large leaves and large red-turning-into-black fruit. Saw palmetto fruits contain oil with various fatty acids and phytosterols, such as beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, lupenone and 24-methylcycloartenol. It has been proved that the fat-soluble fruit extract inhibits - by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase - the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), responsible for prostate enlargement. Furthermore, it blocks the DHT-to-receptors binding. In this way, the activity of DHT is eliminated and the decay of DHT stimulated. One of the advantages of use of Saw Palmetto in men will, naturally, be an improvement in too low libido, but also the regulation of urination problems caused by prostate enlargement, testicular atrophy or baldness problems caused by excess DHT.
Nettle (Urtica dioica), except for the tropical zone, is found worldwide, including Poland. The medicinal raw material and the supplement ingredient is the root of a nettle (Urtrica Radix), and also leaf extracts which have different uses. In the root of a common nettle there are organic acids, phytosterols, lecithin, potassium, mucilage, calcium and waxes. Nettle root preparations have an anti-inflammatory effect, reducing SHBG and 5alpha-reductase levels, and in consequence reduce DHT and oestrogen levels. They have a positive impact on testosterone levels. In medicine they are used in prostate enlargement prophylaxis and treatment. It equalises the level of micronutrients (lime and potassium) and stimulates metabolism (it is an antitoxin and vitaminises).
Zinc plays an important role in maintaining good health and sexual potency in men. The greatest zinc concentrations in the human body has been recorded in semen, sexual organs and in the prostate gland, for that reason fertility problems occur in men having a deep zinc deficiency in blood. Furthermore, the micronutrient actively participates in the production of testosterone, which is responsible in men for a good mood, vital forces, high libido and respective spermatogenesis processes. Zinc is used for too low motility and activity of sperm cells and in the regulation of menstruation in women.
Vitamin B6 participates in the production of the most important neurohormones – e.g. serotonin and adrenaline. For this reason, it is of great significance for physical condition of the human body, proper brain function and for the emotional sphere.
